Loss Without Death- Experimental Non Fiction Film

Loss Without Death would have been my first university project and first time working in a production team,; working as the producer. The creative non-fiction film’s concept came from my own childhood experiences and follows the narrative of what it is like to become a carer for a parent from a very young age. Production was smooth and also simplified with using me as both contributor and producer; getting to the point of booking the studio until we were hit by the third lockdown announcement. Instead of a filmed project, we handed in our 76 page pre-production work.

We earned an 84 from this project.

पुनर्जन्म(Rebirth)- Creative Storytelling Documentary

पुनर्जन्म it is a documentary exploring the themes of culture, migration, and the struggle with internalised racism as we learn about Anusha and her experiences with moving countries.

Summer Freelance Work

Over the summer, I went abroad and was able to create a promotional IGTV video for a local tattoo artist in İzmir.

I’m Okay- Short Fiction Film

In my first year of college, we had to produce, write, film, direct, and edit an original fiction short film based on any topic we desire; preferably drama. The concept I created was a teen girl dealing with the unprocessed trauma of being sexually assaulted at a young age. The narrative is directly inspired by events that transpired within my own life. Over the years I have been more comfortable with talking about it with others as a means to not feel shame and allow others to speak up, and used this film as my own personal outlet.

This short film was shot on a Canon EOS 200D and edited on Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015 and I received a D*.

Younger- A Great Big World- Music Video

The second year of college meant it was time to create our music video for a song that already exists. I chose Younger by A Great Big World; a song about nostalgia and looking back at the artists’ childhood in the 80s-90s. Again, I did all pre-production, filming, and post-production on this project with a cast of 6. The narrative intercuts between the teen and adult version of the protagonist as he reminisces about his teenagehood in the 1990s, using fake VHS archive footage at times. I also decided to experiment with some small hand-drawn 8-bit animation.

This music video was filmed with a Canon EOS 70D and edited on Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015. I earned a D*.

2016-2018

Turkey: The Bridge between Worlds- Short Documentary

2018 was the first time I created a film. In year 11, our final project was a short documentary no longer than 3 minutes about any topic we wanted to explore. I had actually asked my teacher in year 10 what our big project would be, so I began to film in the summer of 2017 when I went to visit family. By the time my classmates were picking a topic, I was organising my 4 hours of footage. Initially I was looking at it from a political/critical angle of the mistreatment of women within the culture, but instead I went for a generic documentary about the country, interviewing my family talking about the culture and non-turks asking questions. Within my class, every student did all pre-production, filming, and post-production themselves.

This project was filmed on an iPhone 6 and editing on Adobe Premiere Pro C6, I received an A*.
